Jeon Hun-young and Lim Si-hyun Face Off in Semifinals
Whoever Wins Secures Silver Medal for Korea
Korean archery has secured the silver medal in the women's individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With Jeon Hun-young and Lim Si-hyun both advancing to the semifinals, a silver medal for Korea is guaranteed regardless of who wins.
Jeon Hun-young (Incheon City Hall), a member of the women's national team, defeated Turkey's Elif Gokir 6-2 (28-26 28-29 28-25 28-26) in the women's individual quarterfinals held on the 3rd at Les Invalides in Paris, France.

Following that, Lim Si-hyun (Korea National Sport University) overcame Mexico's Alejandra Valencia 6-4 (30-30 27-27 27-28 29-28 29-26).
The two players who advanced to the semifinals will face each other at 8:52 PM Korean time on the same day.
Lim Si-hyun, who has already won two gold medals in the women's team and mixed team events, is challenging to become the second-ever Olympic archery triple gold medalist. Since the introduction of the mixed team event at the 2021 Tokyo Games, An San (Gwangju Bank) remains the only Olympic archery triple gold medalist. Jeon Hun-young, who won one gold medal in the women's team event, is aiming for her second gold medal.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Nam Su-hyun has survived to the quarterfinals. If Nam Su-hyun reaches the final, she will compete for the championship against the winner of the Lim Si-hyun vs. Jeon Hun-young match.
Korean archery has never missed out on the gold medal in the women's individual event since the 2012 London Games. The archery team has claimed all three gold medals awarded so far in this tournament. If they produce a winner in the women's individual event and the men's individual event, which concludes on the 4th, they will hold all five Olympic archery gold medals for the first time in history.
