Han Junho Emphasizes Jeonju Roots, Jeonbuk Surprises as 'No. 1'
Cumulative Vote Share Rankings: Kim Minseok, Jeong Bongju, Han Junho
During the regional tour primaries of the nationwide party member convention to elect the next leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, the ranking of the Supreme Council member candidates changed in Jeonbuk. Jeonbuk was the 10th location out of 15 regional tour primaries. The number of eligible party voters up to the 9th region was about 280,000, and Jeonbuk's eligible party voters exceeded 150,000, making it a significant region.
At the Democratic Party Supreme Council member Jeonbuk primary held on the afternoon of the 3rd, the candidate who took the "surprise first place" was Han Junho, a candidate from Jeonju. During the joint speech session that day, Han emphasized, "I am Han Junho, the son of a father from Jeonju, Jeonbuk and a mother from Gimje, Jeonbuk, a son of Jeonbuk." He received 14,980 votes with a 21.27% vote share from 35,210 participants (voter turnout 23.29%) in the Jeonbuk online voting, taking first place. His cumulative vote share ranking jumped from 6th to 3rd.

Candidate Kim Min-seok took 2nd place in the Jeonbuk primary and secured the cumulative 1st place. Kim received 44,882 votes out of a cumulative 127,008 votes, achieving a vote share of 17.67%. Kim had previously emphasized his close relationship with candidate Lee Jae-myung, highlighting his role as the "practical head of the campaign." On the day, he said, "You have heard about candidate Lee’s energy highway and vision for a basic society. I want to become a Supreme Council member responsible for the ruling plan."
Candidate Jeong Bong-ju dropped from 1st to 2nd place cumulatively but is not far behind Kim. So far, he has received 44,270 votes (17.43%). In Jeonbuk, he received 13.25% support, ranking 3rd there. Candidate Kim Byung-ju fell from 3rd to 5th place cumulatively, candidate Lee Eon-ju from 5th to 6th, and candidate Kang Seon-woo from 7th to 8th.
Summarizing the Supreme Council member primary results as of that day, the ranking was Kim Min-seok (17.67%), Jeong Bong-ju (17.43%), Han Junho (14.62%), Jeon Hyun-hee (13.15%), Kim Byung-ju (13.15%), Lee Eon-ju (11.77%), Min Hyung-bae (6.47%), and Kang Seon-woo (5.74%). The Democratic Party will select five out of the eight Supreme Council member candidates by combining delegate votes at the nationwide party member convention on August 18.
