Joke exchanged with Heo Young-man causes misunderstanding
Ryu Su-young faced unexpected malicious comments last year for eating three chicken drumsticks on an educational program. The criticism, which started on online communities, spread to Ryu Su-young's personal social media accounts, prompting him to clarify the situation himself.
On the 2nd, Ryu Su-young explained the situation on his Instagram, saying, "Some people are curious about whether 'Ryu Su-young ate three chicken drumsticks,' so I would like to talk about that scene."

Ryu Su-young stated, "The scene of me eating chicken drumsticks is actually the same single drumstick shown from different angles," adding, "I had already eaten a lot of chicken, and the production team asked me to film the chicken drumstick eating scene additionally, so I filmed it first."
He continued, "When it was Ham Yeon-ji's turn to film, the production team asked her to eat a chicken drumstick, but she said, 'There are no chicken drumsticks left.' Then, Mr. Heo Young-man joked, 'Ryu Su-young ate them all,'" and "I responded to that joke by saying, 'I ate them all,'" he revealed.
Ryu Su-young explained, "The production team used that audio and edited the scene to make it look like I ate three chicken drumsticks because they were so delicious."
He added, "When filming a 'mukbang,' there is a food shoot called an 'insert cut,' and extra dishes are always prepared for this. If a cast member wants to eat more chicken drumsticks or wings, refills are always possible. It was the same that day," he said.

Earlier, images captured from the November broadcast of KBS K-Food Show 'Taste of the Nation,' featuring Ryu Su-young, Heo Young-man, and Ham Yeon-ji, spread across various online communities under the title "Ryu Su-young ate all three chicken drumsticks alone while the three were eating spicy braised chicken."
In the captured images, Ryu Su-young was eating a chicken drumstick. After Ham Yeon-ji said, "There are no chicken drumsticks left," Heo Young-man said, "Ryu Su-young ate all the chicken drumsticks." Later in the video, Ryu Su-young was still seen eating chicken drumsticks.
Netizens who saw this criticized Ryu Su-young's behavior, saying, "I really dislike people who only think of themselves and are greedy at a shared meal," "He is very selfish. Normally, people would offer to share," and "If he acts like this during filming, how is he usually?"
As these criticisms spread to his personal Instagram account and malicious comments crossed the line on his recent posts, Ryu Su-young stepped forward to clarify the situation himself.
Before Ryu Su-young's explanation, Heo Young-man defended him, saying, "It's nothing serious and it's okay," and "Ryu Su-young is a great friend with excellent insight into food."
