Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will provide lifelong education vouchers worth 350,000 KRW per person to guarantee the learning rights of people with disabilities.
The lifelong education voucher program is designed to offer quality educational opportunities to people with disabilities and help develop their capabilities. Gwangjin-gu was selected for the Ministry of Education’s support project in 2024 and is launching the program for the first time this year.
The eligible recipients are registered persons with disabilities aged 19 or older residing in Gwangjin-gu. Priority will be given to basic livelihood security recipients or those in the lower-income bracket, and after verifying no overlapping benefits from other support programs, a total of 60 people will be selected.
Recipients will be issued voucher cards that can be used throughout the year. They can receive support for lecture fees and textbook costs up to a limit of 350,000 KRW until the end of this year.
The vouchers can be used at 2,954 institutions nationwide registered as lifelong education voucher usage centers. Various courses such as foreign languages, certifications, information technology, hobbies, and adult literacy are available both online and offline. For information on usage locations, please refer to the lifelong education voucher website.
Applications are open until the 12th via Government24 (Subsidy24). For those who have difficulty applying online due to severe disabilities, they can visit the Lifelong Education Division at Gwangjin-gu Office with the required documents.
The selection results will be individually notified in August. Once confirmed as recipients, they can receive their voucher cards at the nearest NH Nonghyup Bank and use them. Detailed information is available on the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope this will greatly help people with disabilities actively participate in society and pursue self-development,” adding, “We will do our best to support a happy daily life where people with disabilities are not marginalized.”
