Special Inspection of Construction, Quality, and Safety at EDC3-2 Project Site
Private Experts in Construction Safety and Other Specialized Fields Participate
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) recently conducted a joint special inspection with private experts at the Eco Delta City Phase 3, Section 2 construction site, the company announced on the 2nd.
This inspection was carried out to investigate the status of safety management and verify construction and quality management for vulnerable areas such as embankment slopes and underground excavation sites, where the risk of disasters has increased due to prolonged heavy rainfall and subsequent ground weakening.
The inspection team consisted of four private experts, including construction safety specialists from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Korea Industrial Safety Association, as well as experts in soil and foundation fields. The team conducted detailed inspections on ongoing works such as soft ground treatment and pipeline installation, focusing on: ▲the impact of ground compaction work on surrounding structures ▲the adequacy of soft ground improvement assessments ▲the safety devices of heavy equipment such as cranes and pile drivers deployed on site ▲the safety management status of vulnerable areas such as cut and fill slopes and drainage channels.
BMC stated that minor issues identified during the inspection were promptly addressed on site, while matters requiring improvement or reinforcement will be handled through further review and re-verification by experts.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, "We will strengthen guidance and inspections on construction, quality, and safety management at construction sites by collaborating with private experts in specialized fields such as construction safety."
