Kyungnam University Signs Agreement with Geoje Office of Education to Promote Glocal University Initiative

Agreement on the Importance of Glocal University 30 and RIS Project
Commitment to Building Integrated Support Systems and Cooperation

Kyungnam University, which has been maintaining organic cooperation with local companies and institutions to ensure the stable implementation of the Glocal University and RISE projects ahead of the final selection for the Ministry of Education's Glocal University 30 project, has signed a business agreement with the Geoje Office of Education.

On the 1st, the two institutions agreed to establish an organic cooperation system with the Geoje Office of Education, which is working to vitalize the local educational ecosystem, foster student growth, and create a future-oriented educational environment through collaboration with the community for the cultivation of digital convergence talents needed to lead the digital transformation of Gyeongnam's core manufacturing industry and the Changwon National Industrial Complex via 'Ultra-Large Manufacturing AI.'

Furthermore, Kyungnam University, recognizing the importance of the Glocal University 30 project, which is about to undergo an on-site evaluation, as well as the RISE project to be fully implemented from next year and the foundational RIS project, has promised to establish a convergent support system and provide assistance for the university's advancement as a glocal university through sharing and cooperation of human and material infrastructure, advancement of local industry research, nurturing digital talents, and holding industry-academia cooperation seminars and workshops.

Hong Junghyo, Chair of the National Project Promotion Committee (Vice President for External Affairs), stated, "Establishing a system of connection and cooperation with local educational institutions is essential for promoting the Glocal University, RIS, and RISE projects. In particular, ICT education and various collaborative projects with the many elementary, middle, and high schools in the Geoje area, overseen by the Gyeongsangnam-do Geoje Office of Education, align with the win-win strategy between K-12 and universities, requiring ongoing cooperation."

Park Jungmin, Superintendent of Education, said, "It is meaningful to sign an agreement with Kyungnam University, which has been devoted to fostering outstanding talents based on its long history while leading the diversification of local education," and added, "Together with Kyungnam University, we will focus various capabilities not only on diversifying local education but also on enabling students to acquire future competencies."
