This year, out of 353 cases in 7 categories from 148 local governments nationwide, 186 excellent cases selected through the first document screening competed in the second main competition. Gokseong-gun introduced the case of “Establishing a Gokseong-type Educational Ecosystem through Public-Private-Academic Cooperation Governance” in the community strengthening category.

Gokseong-gun’s education policy, which overcomes the population issue threatening local extinction by building an education ecosystem centered on public-private-academic cooperation where everyone from children to adults grows together, received great acclaim from the evaluation committee and attendees, achieving the honor of being selected as a final excellent case.

Gokseong-gun is building a sustainable educational ecosystem by operating village education programs utilizing the natural ecological environment, creating jobs through training village instructors based on the local community, establishing village education community governance, running the ‘Gokseong Education Forum’ where residents themselves become the main agents of education, and promoting the nation’s only creative convergence education.

A county official said, “Gokseong-gun plans to further activate the public-private-academic cooperation system to create a society where all residents are the main agents of education and to build a unique educational ecosystem in Gokseong where everyone grows together.”
