On the 2nd (Korean time), Lim Si-hyun defeated Reza Oktavia (Indonesia) 6-0 (28-27, 27-26, 29-27) in the round of 32 of the women's individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at Les Invalides in Paris, France.
Earlier, Lim Si-hyun crushed Alondra Rivera of Puerto Rico 6-0 (26-23, 28-18, 29-24) in the round of 64. With two consecutive wins, Lim Si-hyun easily secured a place in the round of 16, joining Nam Soo-hyun and Jeon Hun-young, who had already advanced, making three Korean archers advance side by side to the women's individual round of 16.
If all three players continue to win after the round of 16, the bracket shows that Lim Si-hyun and Jeon Hun-young will face off in the semifinals, and the winner of that match will compete against Nam Soo-hyun in the final.
The women's individual tournament from the round of 16 onward will be held on the 3rd (Korean time) from 4:30 PM to 9:46 PM, concluding with the final.
Lim Si-hyun began to gradually improve her condition in the round of 64 by hitting four 10-point shots out of nine arrows.
In the round of 32, she took the initiative from the first set by scoring 28-27 with two 9-point shots and one 10-point shot. In the second set, although she was in trouble when her second arrow scored 8 points while her opponent scored 9, she regained the lead by shooting 8 points again while Oktavia faltered and then hitting a 10-point shot.
In the third set, both players started with 10 points. With the score tied at 19-19, Oktavia shot 8 points, but Lim Si-hyun hit a 10-point shot to seal the victory.
In the men's division, Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall) and Lee Woo-seok (Kolon) also secured spots in the round of 16. Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office) will also challenge for the round of 16 through the round of 64 and 32 matches on the same day.
If Kim Je-deok also advances to the round of 16 on this day, all six members of the Korean men's and women's archery teams will meet in the individual round of 16. In the men's bracket, Kim Woo-jin and Lee Woo-seok will face each other in the semifinals, and the winner of that match will compete against Kim Je-deok in the final.
