Woori Financial Group announced on the 1st that Woori Pay has adopted Samsung Wallet's contactless payment method, enabling easy payments with just a smartphone tag.
Woori Pay is a mobile payment service that allows users to register payment methods such as Woori Bank deposit and withdrawal accounts, and Woori Card (credit/debit), and make payments via the app at domestic and international merchants, including online. It offers the convenience of easy payments anytime and anywhere with just a smartphone.
The payment method introduced by Woori Financial and Woori Pay this time is the ‘MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission)’ method used by Samsung Wallet. Through the MST method, digitized payment information is transmitted to the payment terminal to settle the amount. Several payment services in Korea use this method.
Meanwhile, Woori Financial also provides a Woori Pay widget to shorten payment time. By long-pressing the Woori WON Banking application to set the widget, an icon is created on the smartphone home screen, and only a six-digit password is required when making a payment.
A Woori Financial official said, “We have boldly introduced the contactless payment method in collaboration with Samsung Electronics to expand Woori Pay usage and provide convenience,” adding, “Woori Financial will strive to lead mobile finance with user-centered payment services.”
