Nam-gu District in Daegu will recruit 40 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for the 6th session of the Barefoot University starting on the 1st.
Nam-gu District in Daegu has been leading the expansion of barefoot walking and the activation of sports for all by launching a barefoot walking project led by the local government for the first time in Korea in 2023, through a business agreement with the "Korea Barefoot School."
Nam-gu Barefoot University in Daegu began its first session in 2023, and by the first half of 2024, five sessions have been held, with residents of Nam-gu participating in both theoretical classes and practical barefoot walking experiences. So far, 160 people have completed the program.
The "2024 Nam-gu Barefoot University 6th Session" will begin with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. on the 24th, and will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon for a total of 10 weeks along the second section of the Apsan Footpath. Classes will be conducted by the head vice principal and assistant instructor from the "Korea Barefoot School," consisting of 90 minutes of theory and 90 minutes of walking experience within the 180-minute session. Any Nam-gu resident who wishes to participate in barefoot walking can join without any special equipment or fees.
Jo Jaegu, Mayor of Nam-gu District in Daegu, stated, "As the number of barefoot walkers is increasing nationwide, we will strive to promote residents' health and activate sports for all by creating various barefoot walking environments in Nam-gu, such as Apsan Gosangol, Daemyeong Ecological Park, and Gosangol Barefoot Experience Center."
