Vietnamese Student Association and 66 Domestic Universities 'Glocaler' Matching

The Korea Display Industry Association is hosting a government-linked job fair to discover talent for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) 'Glocaler.' Glocaler refers to individuals who possess a broad perspective and local adaptability necessary for 'glocal' management, which means globalization that leverages regional characteristics.

On the 1st, the association announced that it will hold a government workforce development-linked job fair during the 'K-Display Exhibition' from the 14th to the 16th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Twenty-five recruiting companies, including Samsung Display, LG Display, Jusung Engineering, Dongjin Semichem, Sunic System, Philoptics, and Mirae Company, will participate. Approximately 800 job seekers are expected to attend.

The association will run programs that match excellent talent with recruiting companies in connection with government projects such as the next-generation and inorganic light-emitting display specialist workforce development project and the display specialized graduate school. Under the concept of 'glocal,' overseas talent will be matched with companies to support companies' difficulties in securing local personnel. To improve job seekers' awareness, influencers will be invited to forecast the future of displays from a humanities perspective and provide an opportunity to experience an 8G-class OLED deposition process scale through extended reality (XR).

One-on-one recruitment consultations will be held between HR managers from panel companies such as Samsung and LG and materials, parts, and equipment companies and young job seekers. Real-time company recruitment announcements will be conducted through the online recruitment hall within the job matching system. Support such as recruitment counseling, employment consulting, exhibition tours, and employment talk concerts will be provided to those who wish. Workforce produced by government projects will be registered in the job matching system and matched with companies first.

A program for companies wishing to match personnel at local sites in Vietnam will be launched. Vietnam accounts for 66% of the total overseas module production bases of domestic companies, higher than China (23%) and India (1%). It is a region emerging as a production base for big tech companies such as Samsung, Google, and Apple, making competition for personnel supply fierce. The association collaborates with Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Vietnamese Student Association in Korea (VSAK) to match high-quality Vietnamese talent. Sixty-six domestic universities' international students are invited to encourage overseas talent participation and help them enter the industry.

On the first day of the event, a global HR seminar will provide guidance on domestic companies' overseas talent recruitment and employment support systems for overseas job seekers. An 'Overseas Talent Consultation Center' staffed with professional counselors will operate continuously to provide one-on-one customized consultation services between overseas expansion companies and domestic job seekers. On the second day, influencers such as Professor Kim Kyung-il from Ajou University, Professor Kim Beom-jun from Sungkyunkwan University, and the 3 Percent TV reporting team will be invited to the K-Display exhibition stage to explore the growth potential of the display industry.

Lee Dong-wook, the association’s full-time vice chairman, said, "We will expand the job matching platform globally and match companies with Glocalers who have local adaptability," adding, "We will do our best to support strengthening human competitiveness in various ways, such as identifying corporate difficulties and making recommendations to the government."

An association official said, "Starting with this fair, we will expand the job matching platform globally through building an overseas talent database (DB) and providing customized local online education," and added, "We plan to continuously strive to match excellent talent through recruitment briefings and industry-academia exchanges in the second half of the year."

Detailed information about the event can be found on the job fair website.
