Goryeong County Operates 'On-site Mind Comfort Bus'

Support for Psychological Recovery Services for Office Workers

Mental Health Education and Healing Programs Offered

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Namcheol Lee) conducted the "Visiting Mind Relief Bus" program from July 23 to 25 at the parking lots of the K-water Goryeong Water Service Center, Goryeong Branch Office, Ugok Health Center, and Gaejin Health Center.

Out of 63 participants from six organizations, 9 people (14%) showed moderate or higher levels of depression, 14 people (21%) experienced moderate or higher levels of loneliness, and 30 people (47%) showed stress levels above the warning threshold, indicating a high level of workplace stress.

Due to the recent economic downturn and the burden of handling civil complaints, many office workers are experiencing increased burnout syndrome (emotional exhaustion). In response, the Gyeongbuk Mental Health Welfare Center operated the "Mind Relief Bus," a specially designed mobile mental health service vehicle, for a week.

Based on the results of screenings and consultations, those with mild symptoms will return to their daily routines after receiving information on mental health services, while those needing additional support will be referred to the Goryeong County Mental Health Welfare Center for follow-up care. Employees with high stress levels will be offered regular mental health education and healing programs.

The Goryeong County Mental Health Welfare Center is improving access to mental health services for local residents by providing in-depth consultations with a psychiatrist once a month and installing three unmanned mental health screening devices, which help in the early detection and intervention of high-risk groups, supporting the maintenance of a positive daily life.

Additionally, since July this year, the National Mind Investment Support Project has been in operation, allowing anyone experiencing mental health difficulties to receive counseling services.
