"Hong Kong Action Thriller Reminiscent of Park Chan-wook's Revenge Trilogy"
Actor Jeon Do-yeon’s starring film 'Revolver' has paved the way for release in 172 countries overseas. According to distributor Plus M Entertainment on the 1st, screening rights have been sold in Asia including Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India, as well as North America, South America, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, and the Middle East. The film is scheduled to be released locally in these regions in the future.
'Revolver' is the new work by director Oh Seung-wook, released 9 years after 'The Merciless (2015)'. It depicts the story of former police officer Ha Soo-young (Jeon Do-yeon), who was imprisoned after being falsely accused of all crimes, embarking on a life-risking journey after her release to collect promised money. The cast includes Jeon Do-yeon, Im Ji-yeon, Ji Chang-wook, Lee Jung-jae, and Jung Jae-young. It will be released domestically on the 7th.
German distributor PlayOn Pictures commented, "Jeon Do-yeon and director Oh Seung-wook have reunited to create a bold female crime film," adding, "It evokes 1990s Hong Kong action thrillers and director Park Chan-wook’s revenge trilogy." Purple Plan, which distributes in Singapore and other regions, said, "It is a highly anticipated film to see what kind of ensemble the characters caught in chaos will form."
