Director Hwang Dong Hyuk: "I Will Do My Best in the Remaining Work"
The globally successful Netflix original series 'Ojingeo Game' (Squid Game) is returning with Season 2 at the end of the year.
Netflix announced on the 1st that 'Ojingeo Game' Season 2 will be released on December 26, and Season 3 will be released sometime next year. 'Ojingeo Game' is a drama about life losers who participate in a mysterious survival game with a huge prize money at stake, competing for their lives. Season 1 set the record for the most viewing hours in Netflix history and sparked a global phenomenon. It was also recognized for its artistic merit at prestigious award ceremonies. In particular, director Hwang Dong-hyuk won the directing award, and actor Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor award at the American Emmy Awards.
Season 2 depicts the events that unfold as the protagonist Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who won the game but gave up going to the United States, returns with his own purpose. The actors who shone in Season 1, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo, will reprise their roles. New cast members include Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Jo Yu-ri, Lee Jin-wook, Noh Jae-won, Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P), Park Gyu-young, and Won Ji-an.
Director Hwang said, "While planning the new journey of Ojingeo Game, the seed of ideas that sprouted has unfolded into a story that continues through Season 3, finally allowing it to be completed," adding, "I will do my best in the remaining work to meet you all with a great appearance."
