Woori Technology Signs Smart Farm Agreement for High-Quality Raw Material Production with McDonald's

Woori Technology announced on the 1st that it has signed an agreement with Yeoncheon County Office, "Yeoncheon County," "McDonald's Korea," and "SmartArc" regarding "the production and delivery of agricultural products through smart farms." The signing ceremony was attended by the Yeoncheon County Governor, Yeoncheon County officials, executives from McDonald's Korea, the CEO of Woori Technology, and the CEO of SmartArc.

This agreement centers on producing and supplying raw materials used in McDonald's premium products by utilizing Woori Technology's AI and robot-based smart farm facilities in Yeoncheon County. The participating companies plan to collaborate on everything from production through smart farms to promotion, distribution, and securing sales channels. SmartArc will supply crops to McDonald's through smart farm operations.

Woori Technology developed its own smart farm facilities equipped with AI and robot technology through the "ICT Research and Development (R&D) Innovation Voucher Support Project" in 2022. Through a national project, it secured smart farm technology based on AI algorithms and big data analysis and succeeded in developing robots for smart farms.

A representative from Woori Technology stated, "As we continue cooperation with Yeoncheon County in the smart farm sector, we signed this agreement to stabilize the supply of raw materials used by McDonald's. Previously, due to seasonal supply imbalances, these crops were imported from China, but we expect stable supply of raw materials based on Woori Technology's next-generation smart farm facilities."

He added, "This agreement is a regional win-win model that enables stable income generation for farmers, so other local governments are also highly interested in projects using Woori Technology's facilities. We plan to maximize smart farm new business sales not only through sales revenue based on our own bio-material cultivation facilities but also by expanding the supply of smart farm facilities."

Woori Technology is applying control and instrumentation technology accumulated from the nuclear power plant business to the smart farm sector and is conducting new business. Since 2022, it has signed agreements and cooperated with Yeoncheon County. Recently, the first phase of production was completed at its own production facility located in Yeoncheon.
