JLK Obtains Domestic Patent for AI-Based Brain Region Classification System

JLK announced on the 1st that its AI-based brain region classification system has obtained a domestic technology patent.

The AI-based brain region classification system, jointly filed by JLK and Seoul National University Hospital and recently patented, is a technology that creates and evaluates a model classifying brain regions using artificial neural networks based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scan data. After registering the original brain imaging data to a standardized 3D brain template, and then restoring each classified region back to the original imaging data, it becomes possible to classify a patient's brain images by region and estimate the degree of brain aging. Medical professionals can accurately identify lesion areas in patients with brain diseases and easily predict stroke prognosis such as functional decline.

The company also expects a synergistic effect with JLK’s existing stroke AI solutions. When combined with quantitative indicators provided by interpreting the patient’s CT and MRI?such as ▲presence of stroke ▲stroke type ▲lesion size and volume ▲severity ▲vascular occlusion ▲blood flow information?the brain region classification system enables more detailed treatment and rehabilitation planning, thereby minimizing the aftereffects of stroke.
