"Let's take some time and see."

On the 1st, Lee Jin-sook, Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, said this ahead of the opposition party's plan to file an impeachment motion against her.

At around 8:23 a.m. that day, on her way to the Government Complex Gwacheon, Lee told reporters who asked about the opposition's impeachment motion, "Let's take some time and see." She did not answer other questions and entered the building.

On the same day, the opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea and the Innovation Party of Jo Guk, decided to file an impeachment motion against Chairperson Lee in the National Assembly.

The opposition's position is that the decision to review and appoint public broadcasting directors under the 'two-person system' on the day Lee and Kim Tae-gyu, standing committee members, were appointed was illegal.

Previously, in the cases of former commissioners Lee Dong-gwan and Kim Hong-il, they chose to resign voluntarily before the impeachment motion was voted on in the plenary session of the National Assembly.

However, there is speculation within the ruling party that Chairperson Lee may not resign even if the impeachment motion is submitted. Even if her duties are suspended due to impeachment and the Korea Communications Commission's work is paralyzed, they may wait for the Constitutional Court's decision. Lee's remark, "Let's take some time and see," can be interpreted in this context.
