According to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, mid-month, senior officials belonging to the Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk provincial federations of Jeonnongyeon were booked on charges of violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act.
Jeonnongyeon officials occupied the highway near Yangjae IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway in Seocho-gu, Seoul, by sitting on the road surface for about 30 minutes starting at 1:40 p.m. on the 4th. It is known that they took this action after the police blocked entry into the city to prevent the entry of agricultural machinery while they were transporting tractors and other farming equipment to the protest site in front of the National Assembly to condemn the government's policy of expanding imported agricultural products.
As a result, traffic in the area was paralyzed at the time, but Jeonnongyeon reportedly left the agricultural machinery and vehicles as they were and moved to the rally site as the start time of the event approached.
The police plan to summon the booked officials soon to verify the exact facts.
