Experiences for Children with Marine Ecosystems and Seaweed
Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok), will hold the "2024 Summer Vacation Marine and Fisheries Experience and Education Program" at the county's Fisheries Resource Research Center throughout August.
The "Summer Vacation Marine and Fisheries Experience and Education Program" is an educational program for children that the Fisheries Resource Research Center has been operating since 2019. It aims to provide children on vacation with various hands-on experiences and educational services in the field of marine and fisheries, helping them to understand the marine ecosystem, seaweed, and more, and to become more familiar with the sea.
This year's program will run from August 5 to August 30, with three sessions each day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, for a total of 36 sessions. The program will invite professional instructors and target local elementary school students, offering six diverse classes such as: making marbles resembling mudflats and the sea, making whale mood lights, and decorating fish-shaped door hangers.
In particular, unlike previous special lectures that required a 5,000 won material fee per session, all classes in this summer vacation program will be offered free of charge, including tuition and materials.
Applications for the program can be made online until August 2. For further inquiries about the classes, please visit the website or contact the Fisheries Resource Research Center.
A Gijang-gun official said, "We will prepare even more diverse educational services and programs so that local children can understand and become familiar with the sea."
