Yangsan Municipal English Library Accepting Applications for 3rd English Book Report Speech Contest

Application Submission Starts on August 13, Preliminary and Final Rounds to Follow

The Yangsan City English Library in Gyeongnam will begin accepting applications for the 3rd English Book Report Speech Contest, where participants read English books, write their impressions, and present them freely, starting Tuesday, August 13.

This 3rd English Book Report Speech Contest is divided into three groups: Group A (grades 1-2), Group B (grades 3-4), and Group C (grades 5-6).


The topics for each group are as follows: Group A has an open topic, Group B's topic is "Family," and Group C's topic is "Culture." Applications can be submitted from August 13 to September 13 by completing one application form and one manuscript, which should be submitted either in person at the English Library or via the English Book Report Speech Contest board on the library's website. The manuscript should be one A4 page, and the presentation is limited to a maximum of 3 minutes.


The preliminary round will take place at the English Library on Sunday, September 29 at 2:00 PM. Six finalists from each group will be selected to advance to the final round, which will be held at the underground performance hall of the Ungsang Library on October 13 at 2:00 PM.


Award recipients in each group will include one Grand Prize winner, one Excellence Award winner, two Merit Award winners, and two Encouragement Award winners, all of whom will receive a certificate from the Mayor of Yangsan and prize money. All finalists will also receive commemorative gifts. For more information about the event, please refer to the announcements on the English Library website or contact the library by phone.


Seo Minsu, Director of the City Library, stated, "We hope this English Book Report Speech Contest will inspire children in the area to take an interest in English reading and gain confidence in using English. We plan to continue developing and operating fun and diverse reading promotion programs to encourage English reading among local residents, so we ask for your continued interest and support."
