Maintenance of Jiseokcheon Bicycle Path, Namsan Park Environmental Improvement, and a Total of 10 Projects
National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon (The Democratic Party of Korea·Naju-Hwasun) announced on the 31st that he secured 4 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the first half of 2024 to address local issues in Naju and Hwasun.
A total of 4 billion KRW will be allocated to 10 projects, including Naju City ▲8 hundred million KRW for the maintenance project of the national river (Jiseokcheon) bicycle path ▲4 hundred million KRW for the street environment improvement project in Seji and Bannam-myeon areas ▲5 hundred million KRW for the replacement of sluice gates in Juklim small stream ▲2 hundred million KRW for the restoration of the embankment in Anseong small stream.
For Hwasun County, ▲400 million KRW for Namsan Park environment improvement project ▲600 million KRW for road environment maintenance project in traffic accident risk zones ▲300 million KRW for repair and reinforcement of disaster-risk bridges at Mulleomgyo and Dosangyo ▲300 million KRW for repair and reinforcement of disaster-risk bridges at Ubonggyo, Daepogyo, and Neungjugyo in Hwasun County ▲300 million KRW for the maintenance project of steep slope collapse risk area in Bang-ri, Baekamyeon ▲200 million KRW for the connecting road construction project around 57-1, Oryuri, Iyang-myeon will be invested respectively.
The Jiseokcheon bicycle path maintenance project in Naju is expected to increase the leisure population and expand the base, as well as bring economic effects to the region, by addressing the decline in usage due to the aging of the bicycle path along Jiseokcheon, which boasts an excellent natural environment, through securing this special grant.
The street environment improvement project in Seji and Bannam-myeon areas is expected to protect citizens' lives and property by addressing the increased risk of traffic accidents for drivers and pedestrians due to poor road surfaces through securing the special grant.
Furthermore, securing special grants for the ‘Juklim small stream sluice gate replacement project’ and the ‘Anseong small stream embankment restoration project’ is expected to strengthen the response capability for flood prevention and disaster mitigation in agricultural lands.
The Namsan Park environment improvement project in Hwasun will provide a safe resting space by improving the dark and crime-prone Namsan Park, promoting tourism activation, and increasing opportunities for nighttime attractions and cultural enjoyment.
The road environment maintenance project in traffic accident risk zones is expected to provide a safe road environment for road users and have an effect on preventing safety accidents.
Through the ‘repair and reinforcement of disaster-risk bridges at Mulleomgyo and Dosangyo’, ‘repair and reinforcement of disaster-risk bridges at Ubonggyo, Daepogyo, and Neungjugyo in Hwasun County’, and the ‘maintenance project of steep slope collapse risk area in Bang-ri, Baekamyeon’, it is expected to protect the property and lives of county residents by preventing disaster risks and casualties in advance.
Securing special grants for the construction (widening and paving) of the entrance road to Oryu 1-ri, Iyang-myeon, is expected to resolve the inconvenience residents experienced using detour roads and improve safety accidents.
Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon said, “I am pleased to have secured the budget to solve local issues amid difficult local financial conditions,” and added, “As the chairman of the National Assembly’s Administrative Safety Committee, I will continue to do my best to secure budgets that reflect the voices from the field to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Naju and Hwasun.”
