Trump Side Denies as "Complete Fabrication"
Fred Trump III, the nephew who previously drew attention with revelations about former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has once again criticized the former president.
Fred, the nephew of former President Trump, said in an interview with ABC News on the 30th (local time), "Every family has at least one crazy uncle," but added, "Trump is atomic crazy."
Fred is the son of Fred Trump Jr., the older brother of former President Trump who passed away in 1981 at the age of 43. On the same day, Fred published a book revealing hidden family stories related to former President Trump titled All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way.
When asked to elaborate on the phrase "atomic crazy," he explained, "Trump does things that make me shudder," adding, "It makes me wonder, 'Is this really the uncle I knew?' and 'What made this person like this?'" He continued, "Trump did truly terrible things to me, and people ask how I still maintain a relationship with him, but after all, he is my uncle and family."
The "terrible things" Fred referred to are understood to relate to comments former President Trump made about Fred's son, who has a disability. Fred claimed that when he called former President Trump to ask for help with medical expenses after his son was diagnosed with a rare disease at just three months old, the response he received was, "I don't know. Your son doesn't recognize you. Just leave him to die and move to Florida."
In the interview, Fred also reiterated an anecdote about former President Trump's use of a racial slur against Black people, which he had written about in his memoir. He claimed that in the 1970s, when Trump was in his twenties, someone scratched his Cadillac Eldorado convertible, and Trump immediately blamed Black people, using the derogatory "N-word" in anger.
Fred said, "I don't think Trump is a racist," but criticized, "He uses people like props, whether Black or not, and once he gets the votes he needs, he discards them." He also revealed that he plans to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming November presidential election.
The Trump camp immediately pushed back. Steven Cheung, spokesperson for the Trump campaign, sent a statement to ABC calling it "completely fabricated fake news" and criticized, "It's shocking that such blatantly disgusting lies can be published in the media."
