On the 29th, Japanese media such as Shueisha introduced a Japanese man active on a YouTube channel under the name "Soy Ouji" (Soy王子, 33). Soy Ouji dated his wife for two years before marrying her, and they are currently in their third year of marriage. However, he previously revealed through social networking services (SNS) that he lived together with his wife's boyfriend in their newlywed home for some time. His wife (27), who recently studied abroad in Australia, returned home with a Japanese international student boyfriend (22) she met there.

The wife confessed to her husband that she had a boyfriend and brought him to their newlywed home. Soy Ouji acknowledged the existence of his wife's boyfriend, and the three of them lived together. They cooked and did housework together while living in the newlywed home for a week. When the wife and her boyfriend quarreled, Soy Ouji mediated between them. After the wife's boyfriend left a week later, Soy Ouji expressed regret, saying, "Come back anytime." He also sincerely thanked the boyfriend, saying, "I am truly grateful to him for supporting my wife during her difficult time abroad."

After this story became known, many people criticized the couple, but Soy Ouji explained that they had agreed to practice "free love" (polyamory) since the time he was dating his wife, saying, "My wife had more than one boyfriend while she was with me, but she was always honest with me." Soy Ouji added, "It is impossible to satisfy my wife’s strong sexual desire every day, so extramarital affairs are allowed in our home," and "If my wife is happy, I am happy too." He also said, "No matter how many boyfriends my wife has, no one can take my place."

Domestic and international netizens who saw this couple reacted with comments such as "I cannot understand these two," "Are they acting to attract attention?" and "Isn't this relationship morally and legally unacceptable?" However, some expressed understanding, saying, "If they are happy, it’s no one else’s business," and "Those who don’t understand can live differently, and those who do can live like this."
