The National Police Agency announced on the 31st that it will strengthen patrols and conduct surprise crackdowns on drunk and reckless driving on highways in anticipation of the peak vacation season.

The police plan to deploy undercover patrol cars intensively at toll gates near vacation spots and golf courses to conduct drunk driving checks around the clock, and to prevent risky behaviors such as reckless and speeding driving. In addition, joint patrols, which have been implemented since the first half of this year, will be expanded through the weekend to enhance traffic safety activities.

A National Police Agency official stated, "Drunk and reckless driving are serious criminal acts that threaten the lives of drivers and others," adding, "We plan to enforce strict crackdowns."
