Gas Gong Growing Integrity Management

Enhancing Employee Ethical Awareness and Integrity Competencies

As the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has emerged globally, clean and transparent management has become an essential condition for corporate survival. Especially for public enterprises that pursue public interest and publicness, the expectations for morality and integrity from stakeholders such as the public and the government are much higher than those for general companies.

On the 31st, a representative from Korea Gas Corporation stated, "We recognize integrity and ethical management as critical issues for the existence of the company and are doing our best to strengthen management transparency to leap forward as a trusted public enterprise." He added, "Korea Gas Corporation continuously strives to enhance fairness and transparency in its operations by actively collecting opinions from the public and stakeholders." The corporation identifies factors that undermine work fairness in advance through employee surveys, interviews, and anonymous bulletin boards, and improves by establishing appropriate mitigation measures considering the likelihood and impact of potential problems.

On the 15th, Korea Gas Corporation held an event to install the 'Integrity Tree and Integrity Mailbox' at its headquarters in Daegu. President Choi Yeon-hye and about 100 employees attended, attaching 'Integrity Practice Pledge Messages' to the plum blossom Integrity Tree, reaffirming their determination to become Korea’s top model company for integrity. Additionally, the corporation installed Integrity Mailboxes in all meeting rooms at the headquarters and all business sites, allowing immediate reporting of ▲corruption and misconduct ▲power harassment and workplace bullying ▲sexual harassment and sexual violence crimes via QR codes. Although the corporation operates a reporting system using the internal intranet and the 'Red Whistle' application, it plans to strengthen open communication by adding Integrity Mailboxes so that not only employees but also external partners and various stakeholders can conveniently report, actively listening to the opinions of external stakeholders.

Along with this, Korea Gas Corporation continuously conducts education to enhance employees' ethical awareness. In addition to customized training by rank, from new employees to senior executives, the corporation strives to improve the integrity capabilities of all employees through on-site training sessions. A Korea Gas Corporation representative said, "As a result, compared to the previous year, the evaluation results in areas such as internal integrity level, senior management corruption risk, and corporate culture diagnosis have improved positively." He added, "Furthermore, Korea Gas Corporation holds integrity councils and provides education for subsidiaries and construction companies, sharing the corporation’s integrity and ethical policies to spread a clean culture to external stakeholders."

Last year, Korea Gas Corporation reinforced the personnel of the organization dedicated to integrity culture to internalize employees' ethical awareness and secure momentum for policy implementation. Going forward, Korea Gas Corporation plans to continue advancing as a cleaner and more transparent corporation through ongoing organizational culture innovation and cultivation of ethical awareness.
