30% Progress on Third-Floor Railing Structure
The construction of the new Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting Station building is progressing smoothly, with a completion rate of 30%.
According to Chungcheongnam-do Province on the 30th, the province is building the new Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting Station on a 7,512-square-meter site designated for industry-academia facilities in the Naepo New City High-Tech Industrial Complex. The building will have three floors above ground, with a total project cost of 29.56 billion KRW.
Currently, the construction of the third-floor railing structure and the pouring of concrete for the steel tower have been completed, marking a 30% progress rate.
The new building will feature a traffic information control room that can monitor traffic conditions across the entire Chungnam region at a glance, as well as a public hall with 200 seats. Outside, there will be a plaza for multifunctional programs and a performance venue for small-scale events.
Since 2020, the province had requested approval to launch the Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting Station but was unable to obtain it, putting the secured 6 billion KRW in national funding at risk of being returned. With the start of the 8th popularly elected administration, Governor Kim Taeheum secured support from the Presidential Office and persuaded the Korea Communications Commission, eventually obtaining the broadcasting license. Construction began in November last year, just three months later.
The Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting Station is expected to become the first public institution to be established since Chungnam Innovation City was designated in 2020.
The province is operating a joint TF team with the Korea Road Traffic Authority, Chungnam Development Corporation, and Chungnam Innovation City Association, aiming to launch the station in June next year.
An official from the province stated, "Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting is a symbol of restoring broadcasting sovereignty for the 2.2 million residents of Chungnam," and added, "We will focus our administrative efforts to ensure the station opens on schedule."
