Regarding the shoe 'accelerator marks,' considered decisive evidence by the National Forensic Service (NFS) indicating driver negligence, he responded, "I don't know. I am truly sorry."
Cha is charged with causing death by traffic accident under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling after driving the wrong way at an intersection near City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, at 9:27 p.m. on the 1st, then crashing onto the sidewalk, resulting in 9 deaths and 5 injuries. Earlier, considering the severity of the crime, the police applied for an arrest warrant from the prosecution on the 24th, and the prosecution also requested the warrant on the 26th.
