Oh Eon-seok, Dobong-gu Mayor, Visits National Assembly to Address Local Issues

On July 26, Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, visited the National Assembly to resolve long-standing projects in Dobong-gu.

This visit to the National Assembly was undertaken to discuss key local issues and to request active cooperation from the National Assembly.

On that day, Mayor Oh met with National Assembly member Kim Jae-seop, delivering materials related to local projects and requesting support from the National Assembly for smooth project implementation.

The main projects for which support was requested include: ▲Designation of the Gyeongwon Line (Cheongnyangni to Dobongsan Station) underground pilot project ▲Introduction of SRT extension to the northeastern metropolitan area ▲Relocation of Kukkiwon to the former chemical unit site in Dobong-dong ▲Lifting of development restrictions on the resource recycling center ▲Relocation of Korea Racing Authority Dobong branch ▲Development and maintenance of Seongdae Baseball Stadium site in Dobong-dong ▲Special grants for autonomous private high schools, totaling seven projects.

During the meeting with Assemblyman Kim, Mayor Oh stated, “The projects for which we are requesting support are crucial for the future of Dobong-gu and improving residents’ quality of life. Since these projects require cooperation from the central government, such as deregulation, we hope for close cooperation from the National Assembly.”

He particularly explained that the former chemical unit site in Dobong-dong is the optimal location for relocating Kukkiwon. Mayor Oh emphasized, “The former chemical unit site in Dobong-dong is surrounded by Dobongsan Mountain and Musucheon Stream, featuring a terrain blessed with excellent natural surroundings. Additionally, it is about an hour’s distance from Incheon International Airport, offering excellent transportation.”

On July 25, the district held the launch ceremony of the ‘Kukkiwon Dobong-gu Relocation Urging Signature Promotion Committee’ and has started a district-wide signature campaign urging the relocation of Kukkiwon to the former chemical unit site in Dobong-dong, Dobong-gu. The district plans to collect over 100,000 resident signatures by August and convey the district’s intention to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
