Whenever an auction appears, it reaches hundreds of millions... 'Star Wars' Princess Leia's 'Golden Bikini' sold for 200 million won

'The Most Famous Costume in Film History' Up for Auction
Princess Leia Bikini Sold for 240 Million Won
Last Year, 'X-Wing' Fighter Prop Sold for 4.2 Billion Won

One of the most famous costumes in film history, Princess Leia's "golden bikini" from Star Wars, was sold at auction for over 200 million won. On the 27th (local time), the British Telegraph reported, "The bikini worn by the late Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the movie 'Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' (1983), was sold for $175,000 (about 240 million won) at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas, USA, the day before."

This bikini was designed by Richard Miller, the concept designer for Star Wars, and is considered one of the most famous costumes in film history. The set includes the top and bottom, the rings on the hips, and the bracelets. In the film, Princess Leia wears this bikini when she is held captive as a slave by the crime boss Jabba the Hutt, and there is a scene where Leia uses the ring on the bikini to kill Jabba the Hutt.

It is known that the actress had a hard time during filming due to the revealing and uncomfortable material. Fisher once said, "I enjoyed the scene where I killed Jabba the Hutt," but also revealed, "When director George Lucas first showed me this costume, I thought he was joking." She recalled the situation at the time, saying, "I was almost naked. It was not a costume choice for me," and added, "I had to sit very upright while wearing the costume."

Star Wars, which has a strong fan base, is also loved in the auction market. Last year, at Heritage Auctions, a model of the 'X-Wing' fighter from the first Star Wars film, 'Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope' (1977), was sold for $3,135,000 (about 4.23 billion won), setting a record high price. This fighter model is 22 inches (about 56 cm) long and was used as a prop in the film during the Rebel Alliance's destruction of the massive weapon, the Death Star. The starting bid at the auction was $400,000 (about 540 million won), but the price soared as two bidders competed for the item.
