Delivery Driver's Response to Request "Elevator Is Broken, Please Come Up to the 18th Floor"

Contacted from the 1st floor, only then informed about elevator malfunction
Delivery refused, husband finally came down to the 1st floor

A delivery driver’s complaint was shared after receiving a request to climb up to the 18th floor of an apartment building when the elevator broke down during a heavy rainstorm. On the 27th, an online community, BobaeDream, posted a delivery story experienced by driver A while working. A said, "Today, it rained so hard in Seoul it felt like the sky was breaking open. I was already feeling uneasy, but a strange customer made it even harder," he began.

A said, "My deliveries were backed up, so I was rushing to get the food to the customer as quickly as possible. Then the incident happened. The customer’s request said, ‘Please call me on the 1st floor,’" he said. "I would understand if it were a villa or a house, but why ask for a call on the 1st floor in an apartment? Usually, if the doorbell is broken, the password is written in the request, so it felt suspicious," he revealed.

When A arrived on the 1st floor, he called the customer. The customer said, "The elevator is broken, so please come up to the 18th floor," and gave him the password for the common entrance. In response to this request, A refused the delivery, saying, "I will dispose of the food myself." Then the customer’s husband answered the phone and said, "I’ll come down, so please wait a moment," which temporarily resolved the situation. A said, "If it were the 2nd or 3rd floor, I would have gone up. I’m so busy, how can I climb to the 18th floor? I told the customer I couldn’t go up and that I would dispose of the food myself. I picked up the food according to the customer’s request and came to the 1st floor of the apartment, but how can I go up to the 18th floor?" he vented his frustration.

Netizens who read A’s story responded, "If the roles were reversed and you were told to walk up to the 18th floor, could you do it?" "If it were me, I’d be so frustrated I’d throw the food away right there," "No matter what, the 18th floor is really too much. Do they have any conscience?" and other similar reactions.
