Joo Ho-young to Woo Won-sik, "Stop the Ruling Party's Forced Bill Passage and the Opposition's Filibuster"

Joo Ho-young to Woo Won-sik, "Stop the Ruling Party's Forced Bill Passage and the Opposition's Filibuster" Joo Ho-young, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Joo Ho-young, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly from the People Power Party, who has been refusing to preside over the plenary session for the passage of the 'Broadcasting 4 Acts' led by the Democratic Party of Korea, earnestly requested Speaker Woo Won-shik on the 28th to "stop both the Democratic Party's forced passage of the bill and the filibuster by the People Power Party."

In a statement released that day, Deputy Speaker Joo said, "The hateful spectacle unfolding in the National Assembly must stop immediately," adding, "The foolish march that the leadership of both parties is forcing the lawmakers into must be halted."

He criticized, "Is the Korea Communications Commission an institution that must be protected even if it ruins everything and the relationship between the ruling and opposition parties collapses?" and asked, "How long will the executive branch fight using the appointment power of the Communications Commission members as a weapon, and the opposition use impeachment as a weapon, until heads explode?"

He continued, "It is clear that even if the Broadcasting 4 Acts pass, the president's veto will be exercised," and condemned, "Pushing through a bill that will be nullified by a veto is an act of self-nullifying legislative power."

Addressing Speaker Woo, he demanded, "What is the reason for legally defining the Speaker's party affiliation departure?" and requested, "Please declare that you will not process any bills or proposals that have not gone through sufficient bipartisan agreement, even now."

He added, "More deliberation time should be given for the ruling and opposition parties to discuss sufficiently," and remarked, "If the 22nd National Assembly continues to deteriorate like this, when will the struggling public welfare be attended to?"
