Shooting Opens Medal Path, Aiming for Medals in Men's and Women's 10m Air Pistol on the 28th [Paris Olympics]

The shooting team, which won the first medal for the Korean delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympics, aims for another medal on the second day of the competition, the 28th (local time).

There are 15 gold medals at stake in shooting events, and on the first day of the competition, the 27th, the first medal was won in the 10m air rifle mixed event. The Korean duo Park Ha-jun (24) and Geum Ji-hyun (24) won the silver medal, delivering the first medal for the Korean delegation at the Paris Olympics.

On the second day of the competition, the 28th, the finals for the 10m men's and women's air pistol events are scheduled. For Korea, Lee Won-ho (25) advanced to the men's final, while Kim Ye-ji (32) and Oh Ye-jin (19) advanced to the women's final.

Lee Won-ho ranked 4th out of 33 competitors in the qualifiers held on the 27th, securing a spot in the final where eight shooters compete. Lee scored 580 points, placing behind Damir Mima? (Serbia, 584 points), Federico Nilo Maldini (Italy, 581 points), and Christian Reitz (Germany, 580 points). Reitz, who also scored 580 points, ranked 3rd ahead of Lee due to having three more X-tens. Lee Won-ho won the silver medal in this event at last year's Hangzhou Asian Games.

Kim Ye-ji and Oh Ye-jin ranked 2nd and 5th respectively in the qualifiers with 45 competitors, advancing to the finals. Kim Ye-ji scored 582 points, the same as the first-place Veronica Major (Hungary), but ranked 2nd due to fewer X-tens. Kim Ye-ji won the silver medal in this event at the ISSF World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan, last May.

The men's 10m air pistol final will be held at 4:30 PM Korean time on the 28th. The women's final will start at 7:00 PM.
