Fencing Osanguk Advances to Quarterfinals... Parksangwon Narrowly Eliminated [Paris Olympics]

Oh Sang-wook of the men's sabre fencing team advanced to the quarterfinals. Park Sang-won, who was also aiming for the quarterfinals, was unfortunately eliminated.


World No. 4 Oh Sang-wook defeated Iran's Ali Parkdavan, ranked 13th in the world, 15-8 in the men's individual sabre round of 16 held on the 27th (local time) at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Oh Sang-wook fell behind early in the first period, conceding 2 points first. However, he quickly turned the momentum around and finished the first period leading 8-7.


At the start of the second period, Oh Sang-wook scored 3 consecutive points to seize control of the match and maintained the momentum to finish the match 15-10.


The youngest member of the men's sabre team, Park Sang-won, was unfortunately eliminated in the round of 16. World No. 34 Park Sang-won lost 11-15 to China's Xun Chenping, ranked 24th.


Park Sang-won led 8-7 in the first period, gaining another chance to defeat a higher-ranked opponent following the round of 32. However, at the start of the second period, he conceded 4 consecutive points and lost the momentum.


Earlier, the eldest member, Gu Bon-gil, was eliminated in the round of 32.


In the women's ?p?e team, Song Se-ra lost 6-15 to Ashiter Muhari, ranked 9th, in the round of 16. With this, the women's ?p?e team has completed all their individual matches. Kang Young-mi and Lee Hye-in of the women's ?p?e team were eliminated earlier in the round of 32.
