On the 26th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province opened a barefoot walking trail in Aronggae Culture Park, located at 355-1 Ayang-dong.
This walking trail was developed as part of the Urban Wind Path Forest Creation Project. The project aims to improve various air quality issues such as fine dust and urban heat island effects through the establishment of wind path forests.
The park was planted with 5,446 bamboo stalks, 350 Western arborvitae, and 6,100 Kerria japonica plants. The trail is 350 meters round-trip and designed to accommodate 2 to 3 adults walking side by side barefoot. Most of the trail is paved with sandy soil to reduce foot fatigue and is shaped in a figure-eight layout. Convenience facilities such as foot washing stations, pergolas, and smart benches were installed, along with LED lighting for nighttime safety.
Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong, expressed hope that "the newly created unique walking trail will allow citizens to engage in walking exercises in various ways."
