"Serious Allegations and Concerns of Secondary Harm"
YouTubers Gujeyeok (real name Lee Junhee) and Jujak Gambalsa (real name Jeon Gukjin), who are accused of threatening mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jungwon) to extort money, have been arrested.
YouTuber Gujeyeok (real name Lee Junhee), who is accused of receiving money from YouTuber Jjuyang by exploiting Jjuyang's weaknesses, voluntarily appeared at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 15th and announced that he would provide all recordings and related materials he possesses to the prosecution. In Gujeyeok's hands were a Bluetooth speaker brought to play the voice recordings of a prominent figure and a cellphone containing recordings and related materials, referred to as the "Golden Phone." On the 26th, Judge Son Cheol, in charge of warrants at Suwon District Court, conducted a pre-arrest detention hearing for Gujeyeok and Jujak Gambalsa, who are accused of blackmail, threats, and coercion, and issued arrest warrants.
Judge Son stated the reason for issuing the arrest warrants was "the seriousness of the charges and concerns about secondary harm to the victim."
Earlier, the prosecution requested pre-arrest warrants for them on the 23rd. Gujeyeok and Jujak Gambalsa are accused of receiving 55 million won from Tzuyang last February on the condition that they would not reveal the past between Tzuyang and her ex-boyfriend.
Later, Tzuyang revealed through her own YouTube broadcast that she was "forced to work while suffering from continuous violence and threats from her ex-boyfriend."
As suspicions arose that 'Cyber Rekka' YouTubers committed secondary harm against Tzuyang, criticism against them grew. When three people, including Gujeyeok, who were identified as Cyber Rekka, were anonymously reported to the prosecution, the investigation into the 'Tzuyang blackmail' case began.
