Opposition to Musk's Claim of "Being Deceived"
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has publicly clashed with his transgender daughter. This is because Musk denied her gender identity, saying, "You are not a woman."
Vivian Jenna Wilson (20), who transitioned from male to female, claimed in an interview with NBC on the 26th (local time), "When I was young, Musk bullied me for being feminine. He forced me to act masculine."
Vivian was one of five sons Musk had with writer Justin Wilson. In 2022, at the age of 18, she legally changed her gender identity from male to female and changed her name from Xavier Musk to her current name due to conflicts with her father. At that time, Vivian declared estrangement, saying, "I do not want to be associated with my biological father in any way," and stated that she would abandon the surname 'Musk' inherited from her father and take her mother's surname, 'Wilson.'
Earlier, on the 22nd, Musk expressed in a conversation with psychologist Jordan B. Peterson that he does not support Vivian's gender identity, saying, "Vivian was killed by the 'woke mind virus.' I have fundamentally lost a son." 'Woke' means 'awake' and is used in various contexts depending on the situation. It generally refers to a progressive stance on issues such as race, gender identity, environment, abortion, law enforcement, and same-sex marriage.
Regarding Musk's claim that he was "deceived by Vivian's gender confirmation process," Vivian argued, "Musk definitely knew what I was doing and eventually agreed to the treatment process." She added, "If he is lying about me in front of millions of people, I will not just let it go," expressing anger. She also criticized Musk's parenting style. "Although Musk had joint custody with my mother, he rarely took care of me," she recalled, "When I was in fourth grade, we went on a car trip as part of a vehicle advertisement, and he shouted harshly at me, saying my voice was too high."
Musk has opposed transgender protections. On the 16th, he even declared that he would move the headquarters of SpaceX and X, located in California, to Texas in protest against transgender protection policies. This was because California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law preventing schools from informing parents about students' gender changes. Musk said, "Due to this law and several others attacking families and companies, SpaceX will move its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas."
