The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 26th that it will hold a public contest for a private proposal development project on the site of the Dongincheon Station private investment station building (18,139.8㎡) to alleviate the inconvenience of local residents and revitalize the old downtown area.

The Dongincheon Station private investment station building has been abandoned since 2009, causing inconvenience to local residents. The cause was the deterioration of management by the operator, Dongincheon Station Co., Ltd., during the occupancy permit period (1987?2017).
The Authority expects that once the station building is fully demolished and developed, the regional division between the southern and northern parts of Incheon will be resolved, revitalizing the functions of the old downtown area and restoring the urban landscape.
The contest period is from the 29th of this month to October 4th, and a business briefing session will be held on the 7th of next month in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the GTX (Great Train Express) Headquarters of the Authority in the metropolitan area. Detailed information related to the contest can be found on the Railway Authority’s website.
Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Korea Rail Network Authority, said, "We expect many companies with excellent ideas to show great interest and participate in this private proposal contest," adding, "We will continuously consult with Incheon City during the development project process to prepare the best plan that satisfies local residents."
