Paris Olympics Return After 124 Years Since 1900
Golf was ignored in the Olympics for over 100 years. The men's event disappeared after the 1904 St. Louis Games in the United States, and the women's event after the 1900 Paris Games. Through the 2016 Rio Games, the men's event returned as an official Olympic sport after 112 years, and the women's event after 116 years. Golf survived again at the Paris Games, which opened on the 26th. It remained an official Olympic sport for the third consecutive time. There is even a proposal to create mixed team events for men and women at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Golf has begun to receive 'recognition' in the Olympics.
