This briefing has been prepared to explain the direction of the service to stakeholders and to gather their opinions as the ‘Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Service’ officially begins.

In particular, local residents have also been invited to attend, making this event a combined resident information session.

Following the agreement signed last June between the city and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) for the delegation of compensation tasks for the Gadeokdo New Airport, MOLIT has entrusted this service to the city to prepare relocation and livelihood measures for residents.

The launch briefing will proceed in the following order: ▲ presentation of proposed relocation measures for residents within the planned Gadeokdo New Airport area, including the allocation of currently developed residential land and the creation of separate relocation sites; ▲ explanation of the service provider’s direction for preparing livelihood measures for fishermen affected by business closures; and ▲ an outline of future plans and collection of opinions (Q&A session).

About 200 people, including officials from Busan City, Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation, Gangseo District Office, and residents of the planned development area for Gadeokdo New Airport, are expected to attend.

The city plans to actively review the opinions of residents and stakeholders presented at the event and reflect them as much as possible in the alternatives to be developed through the service.

Through this service, the city aims to complete the feasibility review and basic planning of various alternatives by December and submit the final report to MOLIT and the project operator, Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation.

Cho Youngtae, head of the city’s New Airport Promotion Headquarters, said, “By holding a resident information session and launch briefing together with the residents who are the policy targets for relocation and livelihood measures for fishermen affected by business closures, we expect to help residents’ understanding and strengthen mutual communication. We will thoroughly review the vivid voices of residents together with the project operator, Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation, to ensure effective relocation measures and livelihood support plans for affected fishermen are prepared without any setbacks.”
