Jeju Coast Guard Issues 'Advisory' for Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System

The Jeju Coast Guard has been making every effort to prevent safety accidents along the coast of Jeju Island as winds blow at speeds of 9 to 16 m/s and waves rise to heights of 2.0 to 4.0 meters since the previous day.

On the 25th, the Jeju Coast Guard announced that it has issued a "Caution" level warning under the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System from 6 PM the previous day until 6 AM on the 27th.

The "Caution" level under the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System is issued when there is a high risk of safety accidents occurring in coastal waters or when accidents have already occurred and there is concern about the spread of damage.

The Jeju Coast Guard plans to strengthen patrols along coastal areas such as breakwaters and tetrapods by increasing personnel at police substations, identifying vulnerable factors in advance, and inspecting the mooring status of vessels docked at ports and harbors. They will also send warning text messages to shipowners and captains to prevent maritime accidents.

A Jeju Coast Guard official said, "Sudden gusts and swell waves around breakwaters or rocky coastal areas can cause safety accidents, so we ask that people refrain from entering these areas during adverse weather conditions."
