Everyday Life as Art... Yeongdeungpo-gu Hosts Traveling Concert A Small Concert Visiting Daycare Centers

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold the "Visiting Small Concert," where residents can experience cultural and artistic performances close to their daily lives, expanding opportunities for local cultural and artistic connections and cultural enjoyment.

The "Visiting Small Concert" is a project in which professional performance teams directly visit welfare facilities, schools, apartment complexes, parks, libraries, and other places that wish to host concerts, delivering customized musical performances to the audience.

It aims to alleviate the cultural deprivation of socially marginalized groups who have difficulty accessing performance venues, promoting psychological and emotional stability, while providing residents with a time to recharge, offering leisure and romance in their daily lives.

The "Visiting Small Concert" is evaluated as diversifying the ways of cultural enjoyment and broadening the scope of cultural and artistic activities that residents can experience closely in their lives.

In particular, the district has significantly expanded the performance venues and period compared to last year. Performances will be held not only in apartment complexes, senior centers, and kindergartens but also in various welfare facilities such as daytime care centers, parks, educational facilities, libraries, and hospitals. The period has also been extended by two months compared to last year, operating until October.

The concerts cover a wide range of genres, from popular performances such as art songs, children's songs, and popular songs to genres rarely experienced before, including classical music arranged for string quintet and musicals. Performers present various genres of music suitable for the audience's age and the venue, interacting closely with the audience. Outdoor performances also feature mime and dance performances.

The "Visiting Small Concert" is open to institutions and organizations with spaces suitable for indoor or outdoor performances. Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the district website bulletin board and either visiting the Culture and Sports Division in person or sending it via email to the person in charge.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "I hope residents enjoy a life of rest and art close to their daily lives through the 'Visiting Small Concert,' where the venue is wherever the residents are," adding, "As a cultural city overflowing with culture in daily life, we will continue to expand various contents such as performances, rest, and experiences in connection with local cultural and artistic infrastructure."
