Distributed Fans at Gongdeok Station and Promoted Energy Saving Practices via Destination Information Displays on Lines 1 to 8
Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced on the 23rd that it conducted a joint public energy-saving campaign at Gongdeok Station with the Korea Energy Agency and Korea Electric Power Corporation in response to the surge in electricity usage during the summer season.
Seoul Metro, the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Energy Agency, and the Seoul Headquarters of Korea Electric Power Corporation held an energy-saving campaign in the Gongdeok Station concourse from 2 p.m., distributing 2,000 fans to subway users.
The fans featured the theme "Essence to Save the Earth at Home, Your Energy Sense," containing easy ways to save energy at home such as setting air conditioner temperatures, using public transportation, and turning off lights.
Methods for saving energy in daily life were also produced as videos and are broadcast on destination information displays in stations and trains. The broadcast period is from June 26 to September 6.
Kim Seong-ryeol, Senior Director of Seoul Metro, said, "With abnormal weather characterized by heatwaves and heavy rain expected to cause significant damage again this year, more active attention to energy issues such as power supply is necessary," adding, "We hope this event encourages subway users to participate in energy saving and serves as an opportunity to spread a healthy energy consumption culture."
