Yang Jaesaengho Expands Think Tank
Largest Ever Advisory Panel with 33 Members
The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Yang Jaesaeng) held the appointment ceremony for the 25th Policy Advisory Committee at the Busan Chamber International Conference Hall on the 24th.
The Policy Advisory Committee of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry operates as a think tank for the local economy, aiming to present key directions for regional economic development, discover and suggest feasible policies, and serve as a direct advisory body to the chairman.
While the previous Policy Advisory Committee was composed of around 20 local university professors, the 25th committee has been formed with practical experts in each field to provide immediate solutions to current issues.
The committee now consists of 33 advisors, including members from national research institutes, university professors, aides to National Assembly members, and representatives from public institutions and large corporations, ensuring a diverse composition for each major issue.
Following the appointment ceremony, a free discussion session was held under the theme of 'Opinions on Major Issues and Policies in Busan,' where advisors engaged in an open and informal debate.
Ryu Jangsoo, a professor at Pukyong National University who was appointed to the Policy Advisory Committee, said, "It was an opportunity for experts from various fields to gather and objectively and professionally consider Busan’s current projects," and added, "We will collaborate with fellow policy advisors to explore directions for regional development and devise ways to realize various local issues and policy tasks."
In his congratulatory remarks, Chairman Yang Jaesaeng stated, "This year, we expect the active participation of the advisory committee members as we bring key regional projects such as the prompt enactment of the Special Act for Busan Global Hub City, the separation and sale of Air Busan, the relocation of the Korea Development Bank to Busan, securing clean water, and attracting integrated resorts to the forefront for full-scale implementation," and emphasized, "Let us join forces to promote regional economic tasks such as the early opening of the Gadeok New Airport and attracting large corporations, which can change the future of Busan’s economy."
The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to enhance expertise by having individual advisors participate in the currently forming task force teams for Air Busan separation and sale, securing clean water, shipping and port affairs, and attracting integrated resorts, so that key regional issues can be pursued without setbacks.
