Hands-on Education Through Field Training, Fostering Smart Farmers
The Sacheon Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeongnam will conduct on-site training for the 17th Sacheon Agricultural University Smart Agriculture Department on the 24th.
This on-site training aims to deepen understanding of smart agriculture, which has been studied theoretically so far, by visiting locations such as the Miryang Smart Farm Valley and the leading smart farm, Good Morning Tomato in Haman.
At the Smart Farm Innovation Valley, participants will learn about support systems for stable settlement of smart farms, including the Youth Startup Incubation Center and rental-type smart farm operations. At the leading smart farm, they will continue with practical education through Q&A sessions on smart farm operation technology and management.
One trainee expressed anticipation for the training, saying, "Through this on-site training, I expect to better understand the practical aspects of smart farm operation, which will be helpful in the future."
Celebrating its 17th year, Sacheon Agricultural University is held from April to November, with each department meeting once a week for about eight months, totaling around 100 hours.
In addition, to cultivate the region's top agricultural professionals, the program invites the nation's best expert instructors and is composed of practical, field-oriented training to enhance the ability to apply knowledge on site.
Notably, this year, more than 100 trainees were selected for the first time in 10 years, with a total of 111 final selections: 42 in the specialized crops department, 34 in the smart agriculture department, and 35 in the therapeutic agriculture department.
Meanwhile, Sacheon Agricultural University has produced 1,455 professional agricultural managers over the past 16 years since launching the Sweet Persimmon program in 2008, aiming to foster elite talent to lead the future of agriculture.
