A resident shared a story about unexpectedly suffering stalking damage due to unfamiliar men coming to meet neighbors on different floors within the apartment. On the 22nd, JTBC's Incident Team reported the story of informant A, who was stalked despite having no connection to the situation. From January this year until this month, A experienced stalking from unknown men over about six months. As similar incidents continued every few months, A eventually spent 500,000 won to install a CCTV (closed-circuit television) at the front door. The CCTV captured the image of an unknown man, and A immediately reported it to the police.

However, in January, A learned more about the situation while talking with B, who lives upstairs. B said that because the men were obsessively persistent, she gave them A’s downstairs address instead of her own. The CCTV showed the stalker leaving a beverage in front of A’s door, and two hours later, B was seen taking the drink upstairs. When A complained about the stalking and the CCTV installation, B asked A to drop the case and gave her 300,000 won.

The problem did not end there. On the 5th of this month, about six months later, another man came to A’s door. This man stood with his ear pressed against the door as if trying to hear sounds inside, and he wore an umbrella while staring for a long time, continuing this chilling stalking for ten days. Sometimes he came twice a day.

Angry Mr. A eventually urged Mr. B to move, but Mr. B refused. In response, Mr. A said he would move himself and offered to pay part of the moving costs, but Mr. B instead criticized Mr. A, saying, "I know you received 300,000 won. You're a habitual offender."

A reported to the police again and, following their advice, stayed at a protection center. Soon after, the man was caught. During the investigation, A confronted the stalker and confirmed that he had also visited the upstairs woman, B. Angered, A eventually urged B to move out. However, B refused. A then offered to move out herself and asked B to cover part of the moving expenses, but B instead criticized A, saying, "I know you received 300,000 won. You’re a habitual offender."

In a phone call with JTBC, B explained, "I am the real victim and I am so scared I cannot sleep," and denied ever giving the men the wrong address. Meanwhile, A appealed, "I do not want punishment for the men who came to my house," and said, "I am mentally suffering greatly because of the woman upstairs."
