Gyeonggi Province will conduct an online public vote for the selection of ‘Resident Participatory Budget’ projects from the 24th of this month until the 4th of next month.
Earlier, until April, Gyeonggi Province collected proposed projects from residents, receiving a total of 597 submissions. After review by relevant departments and deliberation processes, a total of 74 projects (worth 23.5 billion KRW) were put forward for the public vote.
The voting will be conducted through the online survey website (survey.gg.go.kr).
This online vote is to determine the priority for budget allocation, with the priority decided by combining 80% of the scores from the Resident Participatory Budget Committee and other committee reviews, and 20% from the online public vote.
The final project selection will be confirmed through a resolution at the full meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Resident Participatory Budget Committee on August 14. The selected projects will be included in next year’s budget plan.
Kim Hoon, Gyeonggi Province Budget Officer, said, "The Resident Participatory Budget vote is an important process that guarantees residents’ participation in the budget formulation process and enhances the transparency and fairness of the budget." He added, "We ask residents to actively participate in the vote so that projects essential to the residents can be selected."
Meanwhile, through the Resident Participatory Budget system last year, Gyeonggi Province is currently implementing 52 projects (15.8 billion KRW) this year, including the ‘Employment Competency Enhancement Support Project for Youth Preparing for Independence’ and the ‘Carbon Neutral Practice Village Community Support Project.’
