District Representative Street Festival 'Dancing Nowon' Dancing Parade and District Choir Participants Recruitment

Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it is recruiting participants to join the district's representative street festival, 'Dancing Nowon.'

'Dancing Nowon' is a street parade-style festival held around Nowon Station. It was revamped from the decade-old 'Nowon Mask Festival' to encourage youth participation and become a festival that pursues youth and the future. Approximately 124,000 people participated over two days in the first festival held last year.

Entering its second year, 'Dancing Nowon' is focusing on enhancing the quality of its core content, the 'Dancing Parade,' and expanding the 'Dance Performance' elements to strengthen the festival's identity and provide high-quality attractions for spectators, while recruiting participants.

The Dancing Parade is the main event where dance teams of various ages and genres fill the area around Nowon Station with dance. Any genre that can participate in a parade is welcome, including dance, traditional dance, percussion, martial arts, marching bands, hip-hop, cheerleading, and more.

The categories are ▲University & General (no age limit) ▲Children & Youth (at least 70% of participants aged 19 or younger) ▲Local & Silver (at least 70% of participants are Nowon-gu residents or 70% aged 60 or older), with each team requiring at least 15 members.

The total prize money is 60 million KRW, with one grand prize awarded per category: ▲University & General category grand prize of 7 million KRW ▲Children & Youth category grand prize of 2 million KRW ▲Local & Silver category grand prize of 3 million KRW.

The 'Citizen Choir' that will open the festival is open to any choir groups active in Nowon-gu, university choir clubs located in Nowon-gu, or any groups that love music and dance. This year, a large-scale flash mob incorporating dance performance elements will be presented, directed by 'Poppin Hyun-jun,' who was appointed as the official dance director of 2024 Dancing Nowon.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form posted on the official Dancing Nowon website and the Nowon Cultural Foundation website and sending it via email. Applications for the Dancing Parade are accepted until August 16, and choir participation applications until August 9.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Nowon Street Festival 'Dancing Nowon' will take place on September 28 and 29 along a 555-meter section from Lotte Department Store/KB Kookmin Bank to in front of Full Gospel Church around Nowon Station. Various programs will be held divided into ▲Parade Zone ▲Dancing Theme Zone ▲Family Theme Zone.
