Samsung Electronics management and labor union failed to reach an agreement in wage negotiations resumed after a two-week general strike.
On the 23rd, Samsung Electronics management and the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union (Jeonsamno) held negotiations for over eight hours at the Nano Park negotiation hall in Giheung Campus, Gyeonggi Province, aiming to settle wage talks. Although they discussed the wage increase rate and other demands proposed by Jeonsamno, it is reported that no conclusion was reached.
The management and labor union conducted marathon negotiations from 9 a.m., repeatedly taking breaks and resuming, and ended the talks around 5:30 p.m.
The management side proposed an "average wage increase rate of 5.1%" (basic increase rate 3.0% + performance increase rate 2.1%) at the third post-adjustment meeting of the Central Labor Relations Commission at the end of last month. On the other hand, the union proposed an average wage increase rate of 5.6%, reflecting a basic increase rate of 3.5%.
In addition, Jeonsamno is demanding one day of guaranteed union founding leave, improvement of the performance bonus system, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike.
