A woman in her 40s was arrested by the police for killing her elderly mother in her 80s while drinking at home.
On the 23rd, Im Jeong-yeop, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Northern District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Ms. A, who is accused of killing a direct ascendant, stating that "there is a risk of flight."
Ms. A is suspected of swinging a blunt weapon at her mother in her 80s while drinking at their home in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, around 11:50 p.m. on the 20th, causing her death.
Immediately after the crime, Ms. A called 119 and was arrested by the police who arrived at the scene. Ms. A's mother was transported to the hospital but passed away.
During the police investigation, Ms. A reportedly stated that she committed the crime because memories of her mother discriminating between her and her male siblings came to mind.
