Yoon In-chon "Hope to Play a Greater Role for Disabled Artists"
On the 23rd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed eleven new members to the 'Committee for Supporting Cultural and Artistic Activities of Disabled Artists' at the Korea Press Center.
The appointees include Kim Mi-kyung, assistant professor at Hongik University College of Fine Arts; Kim Yong-jik, president of the Korea Autism Love Association; Kim Ji-yeon, sign language actor affiliated with Handspeak; Kim Ji-won, director of the theater company Davinnao; Bang Gui-hee, president of the Korea Disabled Artists Association; Bae Eun-joo, executive representative of the Korea Federation of Disabled Cultural and Artistic Organizations; Lee Sang-jae, professor at Nazareth University College of Music; Lee Hyun-hwa, former research curator at the National Institute of the Korean Language; Jang Jin-ah, CEO of Heart Heart A&C; Cha Hyun-mi, director of Seongmin Welfare Center; and Choi Myung-sook, CEO of Borisu Ara. Their term lasts three years, until July 2027.
Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "I hope that the Committee for Supporting Cultural and Artistic Activities of Disabled Artists will play a greater role in the development and growth of the disabled arts sector through the appointment of new members."
The Committee for Supporting Cultural and Artistic Activities of Disabled Artists is an organization that deliberates on key matters related to supporting cultural and artistic activities of disabled artists. Members are appointed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in accordance with Article 7 of the 'Act on Support for Cultural and Artistic Activities of Disabled Artists' and Article 4 of its Enforcement Decree. Eligible members include public officials from relevant central administrative agencies or experts in disabled arts.
